UNSW Bike Club

Car free day is happening this Wednesday  and we want to get onboard with some fun activities for this special day.  We all know cars take up a lot of space – even when you are not using it.  People all over the world are now getting out and demonstrating that the space for car parks could be better used if the cars weren’t there, with the concept of Park(ing) day.

For Wednesday afternoon, we thought that some car spaces could be better used with people sharing their skills with others – creating a fun learning environment. 

So if you have a small skill you can share (anything from origami to yodeling , knitting to juggling) and can spare half an hour or so of your Wednesday afternoon (1-4pm), please let us know and we will add your activity to the list and try and get materials you may need.  Everyone else, please just drop and surprise yourself with what you can learn in a parking space! 

This is going to be fun for the sake of fun as well as being a bit of a demonstration. Woo hoo!

Our photo comp is being wrapped up at the end of this week, so get your entries in fast to events(at)unswbikeclub.org.au.  There are great prizes and it’s lots of fun!

We are looking for a new and funky logo for the bike club.  If you have any ideas, please send them through.  They can be as rough or professional as you like, we will get your design polished up.  You can just give us ideas – it doesn’t have to be the final product.  Come on bike people, get creative!

Registration has opened for ride to work day, so get yourselves registered.  Just put UNSW as your workplace and we’ll organise some fun stuff for everyone who rides.  We are thinking of a pizza lunch plus a big photo shoot with all the people who ride to uni (and there are lots) on the Surveyors lawn (between the electrical and mechanical engineering buildings).

If you’ve ever wanted to set sail down the middle of George street or try riding with a patch on one eye or a parrot on your shoulder – now is your chance.  Dress up and practice your pirate vocals for a fun tour of Sydney.  This sunday 19th September, meet at martin place (near George Street) at noon.
