Workshops start Tuesday week 1

Our popular weekly maintenance workshops, where you can bring your bike along and learn how to fix it (using our tools and the expertise of our volunteers), start in week 1.

The first workshop will be on Tuesday 2 March, and they’ll run every week from 12pm-2pm.

They’ll be on the raised stage on the Quadrangle Lawn, at the base of the Basser steps.

If you know about fixing bikes and would like to help out, come along too!

Wednesday Night Mechanics’ School

Are you looking to learn some more about bikes over the holidays? A second night is starting up at Bike Club (the one in Waterloo), and you’re invited to the first session next Wednesday 18th.

We’re going to be focusing on a different topic each week. The first one is about gears, and the second will be about “stayin’ alive”.

Today’s bike repair workshop will be the last for 2009. Thanks to everyone who’s come along and helped out: Vernon, Craig, Ally, Sigitas, and all the others!

If you need help with your bike between now and March 2010, bring it along to Cycle ReCycle, which runs every Monday night 5-9pm at 1 Phillip St, Waterloo.

Can you help fix bikes this Friday 28 Aug?

Our bike loan scheme is about to start, but the bikes need a bit of a tune-up before they can get loaned out.

Can you help out for an hour or two? We’ll be fixing them up from 10am-4pm this Friday. If you’re free, please email . No bike fixing knowledge necessary!

COFA bike repair workshops

Are you a COFA student who wants to learn how to repair your bike?

We’ll be running bike repair workshops at COFA in weeks 3, 4, 5 and 6 (i.e. starting next week). The workshops will be in the main courtyard, from 2pm-3pm. They’re totally free, and anyone can come along. These workshops are graciously supported by Arc @ COFA.

Here is the schedule for the workshops:

Week 3: Fixing a puncture
Week 4: Adjusting brakes
Week 5: Fixing gears
Week 6: Cleaning and maintaining your bike

Our weekly bike repair and maintenance workshops will be held in semester 2 on Tuesdays from 12pm-2pm on the Quadrangle Lawn (at the bottom of the Basser steps).

This Tuesday is our last workshop of the semester! If you’ve got anything wrong with your bike, this is your last chance to get it fixed before the holidays.

Good luck with your assessments, and see you next semester (or on the ride to Melbourne if you’re coming!).

Bike tutorials start week 8

We’re starting a series of bike tutorials, in the first hour of our weekly workshops. From 12pm-1pm every Tuesday, head over to the Quadrangle Lawn (or under the eaves of the Quad if it’s raining) for the following tutorials:

Week 8: Tubes, tyres and wheels
Week 9: Brakes, pads and levers
Week 10: Cogs, derailleurs and gear shifters
Week 11: Hubs and bottom brackets
Week 12: Headset, stems and handlebars

The 1pm-3pm workshops will continue to be general bike repairs and maintenance for whatever ails your bike.
